Marvin Sordell retired from professional football in 2109 aged just 28. Having played in the Premier League for bolton and Burnley, represented England at U.21 level and played in the 2012 Olympic Games as part of team Great Britain, Marvin was worn down emotionally by the industry of professional football. Depressed and fighting suicidal thoughts, he walked away. I thought that takes great strength. Since retiring Marvin has talked openly and with great intelligence and passion on emotionally what he endured. From Bt Sports ' State Of Play' to BBC with Prince William he's continued to drive the ongoing issues around the Pandemic of mental health inside Football. Having Suffered so much myself during my playing career and then what I have continued to see for the last 9 years as I guide and lead so many talented players through this midfield, I must say I really enjoyed our conversation. Lost Self, Ego, Emotional Needs, Authenticity, Intelligence being frowned upon, we discuss some brilliant stuff. I have no doubt Marvin will go onto to lead and inspire change. Today he combines his passions writing with his filmmaking company.
