From Supercross to Stunts, Dave Castillo Has Some Stories! | 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast
Presented by 6D HelmetsWhether Dave Castillo's name rings a bell for you or not, we're willing to bet that you have unknowingly enjoyed his work in one way or another. A professional racer in the 90s, Castillo is the son of Jim Castillo, founder of Innovation Sports, the brand that practically invented knee bracing. After curtailing his full-time racing efforts, Dave teamed up with his dad to create Asterisk, the most successful off-the-shelf knee brace company in our sport. Concurrently, Dave began a career in Hollywood as a stuntman. Early on, Castillo specialized in two-wheeled stunts, but eventually grew into other aspects of the industry, including stunt coordinating. Currently, Dave is still busy in Hollywood and remains connected with his motocross roots by racing the annual Day in the Dirt Motocross Grand Prix that started out as a Hollywood stunt event, but also with his family company Intake Breathing, which produces the breathing kit that utilizes two small stick-on steel discs and a magnetic nose clip that expands your nasal passages.

The Waiting Game on the Kickstart Podcast
Presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co. While October 1 was the date we expected all of the news about 2026 to be released, much of the formal "goodbye," and "thanks for the memories" press releases have trickled in over the past couple of weeks. Does that mean that the remaining "news" will drop on Saturday, November 1? Or will they be released on Monday the third? No matter...while we await the official news about Sexton and Kawasaki, Tomac and Prado at KTM, Deegan in Fox, Barcia and Ferrandis with Ducati, and more...we had a good time speculating about all those pairings, and more!

Waiting For the Other Shoes to Drop, on the Kickstart Podcast
Presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co. Some interesting stuff to talk about on this week's Kickstart Podcast! Last week, formal "goodbyes" were issued by several teams, thanking racers for their time and wishing them success in the future. While it's well known where all of the big players are headed, we discuss the open Kawasaki 450 seat, as well as Jorge Prado's challenging public image in 2026. Chase saw him in action on his orange machine last week, and we talked about that, as well as a telling conversation we had with Cameron McAdoo recently.

Off-Season and Silly Season on the Kickstart Podcast
Presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co. What a glorious time of year it is! With the 2025 Motocross of Nations in the history books, last weekend marked the first genuine off-season weekend for the motocross industry. Except for teams and racers contesting the Arenacross or WSX World Championship Series, most who were involved in the 31 racers that made up the Supercross, Motocross, and SMX Playoff series should have really soaked up last weekend. Ours started off with the Celebration of Life for our friend and partner Doni Wilson, who we lost on August 11 to a battle with ALS. It was an amazing event and it was a nice way to close the chapter on our time of mourning the loss of DW. There's that, and a whole lot more in this week's podcast!

Presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co. Last weekend we headed to Glen Helen to check out Ken Roczen racing the Champ Off-Road National Championships in a Pro 2 truck, spent Saturday night at Lake Elsinore Diamond Stadium for the Freestyle Kings, then returned to the tracks on Sunday for some riding and racing. Now, we head to Crawfordsville, Indiana, for the Motocross of Nations!

Charlotte SMX Recap on the Kickstart Podcast
Presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co. Last weekend, the Monster Energy Supermotocross World Championship Playoffs got underway in Concord, North Carolina, at xMAX Dragway, and severe weather forced the cancellation of the event after the first 250 and 450 motos were run. Four lightning strikes in the area initially halted the event, but the ongoing threat of lightning, plus steady rain and impending nightfall, finally did the race in. For the most part, racers were relieved, but the fans on hand were upset, demanding refunds and the like. There is no debating the fact that the race could not have run with the lack of lighting in the motocross section of the course outside of the stadium, and the course was challenging enough without throwing in mud and poor visibility into the mix. Eli Tomac told us after Friday's practice sessions that it was "The sketchiest track I have ever ridden on." Throughout the weekend, the track claimed many victims, including top riders like Malcolm Stewart, Seth Hammaker, Julien Beaumer, and Garrett Marchbanks. Jett Lawrence said after the race that the track had a limit that could not be pushed, and that you had "to take your medicine out there," in the rough conditions. We talk about that, and a lot more, in this week's Kickstart Podcast, presented by Maxxis and Outhouse Coffee Co.!

John Gregory on the 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast
Presented by 6D Helmets Last weekend at the Big Bear MX Grand Prix, I spotted a guy walking through the pits in a matching T-shirt and short pants, adorned with the JT Racing Bad Bones graphics that were made famous by Ron Lechien in the late 80s. Of course, the outfit was a modern offering from the licensing holders, but it got my mind reeling with memories of the glory days of JT Racing. That said, I shot a text and a photo I snapped of the guy to John Gregory, the man who founded JT Racing in 1968. Before I knew it, I had John on the phone for this podcast, which will eventually be part one with the man. Gregory lives on an isolated ranch in Idaho these days, and an unexpected visit from his neighbor ended up cutting our time short. Still, it was an entertaining chat and should be a great listen for anyone eld enough to remember the iconic brand. Enjoy!
