Once Maharaj Pandu was hunting in a forest. He sensed some movement from behind the bushes and thinking it was a deer, shot an arrow. The arrow hit rishi Kindam and his wife, who were enjoying an intimate moment together disguised as deer.  When Pandu realised what he had done, he pleaded forgiveness for his actions, however Kindam rishi cursed Pandu.
