Women may not be allowed on Grand Sumo's dohyo, but they can serve on the YDC. To date, three women have served on the Yokozuna Deliberation Council, and we will tell you what we know about these trail blazers. We begin with an overview of what the YDC is and what it does, and then we jump right into who these women are and how they joined the YDC.
Their names are Ms. Makiko Uchidate, Ms. Ikenobō Yasuko, and Ms.Konno Misako.
