David grew up in one of the most dangerous cities in America (St. Louis - No.5 according to 2019 FBI report) that boasts a checkered history of discrimination and violence.  In 2014, tensions boiled over as unarmed African American 18 year old, Michael Brown was killed by a police officer after the officer discharged his weapon 12 times.
