Episode 2 || Ile Ya Extrajudicial Executions Part 1 (With Lucy Wanjiru, James Mbogo, and Lucy Wambui)

Extrajudicial executions and police brutality affect the lives of the victims and that of their families and communities. In episode 2 of the Stripped Down Podcast, we sat down with  Lucy Wambui from Mathare Social Justice Centre and Lucy Wanjiru and James Mbogo from Kiamaiko Social Justice Centre from Mathare Social Justice Centre to discuss police excesses and extrajudicial executions and their impact on their lives and activism.

Our jam of the week is Tena by King Kaka, featuring Jadi. The harrowing song paints the gruesome picture of police brutality in Kenya and its impact on young lives, families, and society. Released in partnership with Article 19, the music video asks, "when did protect and serve become comply or die?" Listen to the track and the Jams of the Week playlist here.
