Not All Stress is Bad: Building Resilience Through Purpose, Rest, and Good Stress
This is StRest! In a solo deep-dive, Kerstin reframes stress and shows why resilience is built—not born—when you pair purpose-driven “good stress” with real rest. She distinguishes eustress from distress and explains hormesis (small, controlled stressors like exercise, fasting, heat/cold) where growth happens during recovery. You’ll learn what to track (HRV, VO₂ max, CRP), how to use NEAT/VILPA for daily movement wins, and why strength + ruck training, yoga/HIIT, and smarter rest make you more adaptable over time.
She gets practical: fast, then feast (with whole foods from quality sources), leverage polyphenol-rich “killer plants” (berries, green tea, dark chocolate), and reintroduce environmental variability—sauna and cold exposure—to harden your system without burning it out. Kerstin also tackles purpose and faith: how aligning work and relationships with your calling turns stress into fuel, and where boundaries, therapy/coaching, and delegation fit when caregiving or life’s demands feel chronic.
She explains how aligning work and relationships with purpose turns stress into fuel, then closes with non-negotiables, a prayer, and a preview of the upcoming foot-health episode with Dr. Nicholas Pagano.
You’ll leave with a phased plan: move daily, lift 2–3x/week, sprinkle VILPA bursts, prioritize sleep, fast cyclically (with true refeed days), eat quality plants and protein, add sauna/cold as appropriate, invest in key relationships, and—most of all—chase purpose with faith and rest.
