Every four years, a caravan of national news networks descends on a remote corner of New Hampshire to broadcast the first results from the first-in-the-nation primary.
At first glance, Dixville Notch seems to showcase the New Hampshire primary at its finest – and most photogenic: Snow-capped mountains. Old-timey wooden ballot box. 100% voter participation. It’s storybook democracy set against a picture-perfect background.
