Since well before Victor Hugo looked up at Notre Dame and thought, "Huh... what if a hunchback lived in there?" authors have been inspired by Paris. The Storytime in Paris podcast will help keep this tradition alive with short interviews and readings from your favorite contemporary authors with a French connection.

Every episode will feature five questions, asked by you, our authors' biggest fans, and answered live on air. Then, our authors will treat us to a reading of an excerpt from their book. Who knows? Maybe you'll even be inspired to write your own Great French Novel. Happy listening!

Ep. 66 - Cynthia Newberry Martin, “The Art of Her Life”
Welcome back to the Season Seven Premiere of Storytime in Paris! My first guest is Cynthia Newberry Martin and the moment I read her latest novel “The Art of Her Life,” I knew I needed to introduce you, dear listeners, to her work. Cynthia won the Gold Medal in Literary Fiction at the 2020 Independent Publisher Book Awards and the 14th Annual National Indie Excellence Award for Fiction for her first novel “Tidal Flats.”

In “The Art of Her Life,” our main character Emily fell in love with the painting Breakfast by Henri Matisse as a young child, and her love of this painting has shaped, guided, and organized the way she views the world ever since. Through Emily's eyes, we learn the magic of art, the influence of color, and the power of connection. This novel nestled into my heart, wrapped itself around, and has stayed there like a gentle swaddle.
