Betrayal. It’s a classic story element. An act of disloyalty. We are misled or outright deceived. Someone we trusted steals from us. Maybe it’s something tangible, maybe it’s more like our soul. Trust can be stolen, and with it, a beautiful innocence we had somehow kept safe untill now. Someone acts out of meanness or jealousy or vengeance. (What a word - vengeance - sounds as bad as it is).
