My meditation for driving to work on this platform has been one of my most popular so I thought I'd upload another . The drive to work is potentially a stressful time as one predicts and worries about the day ahead, but what if instead we utilize the time driving to stay fully present and find a sense of inner peace and groundedness.
In the present moment the drive to work can be perfectly enjoyable and pleasant, the act of driving itself is quite meditative as it requires enough concentration and focus to keep the mind occupied, if you can devote your attention entirely to this you will find the remarkable peace achievable through a complete and total focus on the present even when engaged in activity. This then carries over into the day as even ordinarily stressful situations become another opportunity to focus on meditative presence.

This guided meditation introduces a method for alleviating chronic pain based on a mindfulness visualization. By changing the way pain is experienced we can cease the secondary suffering created by pain, interrupting the 'feedback loop' caused by the stress associated with the physical discomfort. Reducing the stress caused by pain subsequently reduces the physical pain, in this way the practice of mindfulness can be a powerful remedy for chronic conditions and has significant impacts on the wellbeing of those afflicted.
If you don't suffer from a chronic condition yourself please remember to share this with anyone you know who suffers painful conditions including arthritis and fibromyalgia.
If you understand the technique and mechanism of action you may also find this practice useful for chronic emotional pain.

This particular meditation evokes sense memories from happy periods of time and then focuses the listener into the happier feelings that arise. This re-awakens the brains natural feel-good chemistry and once this experience is felt the brain will naturally begin to re-adjust it's natural balance.
This requires a pushing through of 'Nostalgia' feelings and perhaps a pang of sorrow, grief or loss as we feel as though we long to return to the past, however on the other side of that nostalgia we discover that these happy and joyful feelings never went away, they have been there all along they have simply been obscured by the weight of the many years of conditioning that enshrouded them.

In time this results in a more present way of being in life and ultimately removes stress.

In this episode I take you on a deep dive into the practice and principle of Shadow Work. Guiding through a fearless and transformative introspection necessary for true and permanent inner peace, health and happiness. This episode includes a practical exercise towards the end.
The 'Shadow' as described by many spiritual teachers, therapists and psychologists (including Carl Jung) is the unconscious material of repressed, avoided and buried emotional residue, left over from a painful past in which the emotion was not given the correct attention at the time, most often this is due to encountering these emotions as a child when the adults around you had no emotional maturity, no emotional security, were neglectful and mistreated you and therefore did not teach you the correct way to handle intensely negative emotional states. Being a child you found your own way to handle these emotions as you learned the emotion was not 'safe' to express around adults, but sadly the mechanisms that worked as a child essentially 'Buried' the emotion and here is where the dysfunctional patterns we carry into adulthood are formed.
It is the repression of emotion that causes the vast majority of dysfunction and disorder in the individual as so many of our negative behaviors are in place in order to avoid facing this pain, by choosing to face it squarely and head-on one removes the need for dysfunctional behavior, bad habits and unnecessarily painful emotional patterns. You essentially 're-parent' that poor child who was never taught the right way to experience emotions.
For example if we have repressed shame we are unable to feel shame in daily life and therefore have lost access to an emotion necessary in ensuring we don't act in strange, embarrassing and unhealthy ways. If we have repressed anger we struggle with conflict and so resort to passive aggression and manipulation. If we have repressed fear we might find ourselves in patterns of avoidance and therefore unable to access healthy and productive jobs and fulfilling relationships.
This can be so painful as we have buried emotion for a reason, they can be incredibly painful, and if you have been on the receiving end of very unjust behavior towards you naturally you will be unwilling to return to those periods of time and refeel those horrible emotions. But this reluctance ultimately only damages you further, it's time to pull the band-aid off and really do this so that you can move on into a happy and healthy life moving forwards.
If you have found yourself stuck or stagnant on your healing journey or path to awakening it is very likely that there is an element of the shadow that needs to be addressed. The trade-off with this work is that the deeper you can go into this painful material, the more rapid and profound your transformation will be.
By practicing shadow work one develops the necessary courage and maturity to finally feel these repressed emotions and feel comfortable in their presence, in time this results in a much more settled and peaceful emotional inner world. This is perhaps the hardest and most uncomfortable of all spiritual practices, but in my experience is the most beneficial and transformative.
Once uncovered and integrated, the shadow is no longer operating from the darkness and instead is allowed up and into the light. The individual is now Whole with nothing left undiscovered. Herein lies true peace.
Good luck.

In this series I'm exploring and explaining the various rpactices and principles in spirituality and meditation that have been so helpful for me in recovering from anxiety, depression, addiction and obesity. I utilise the wisdom and knowledge that has been recorded throughout history and apply it to the present day.
In this episode I speak on the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, and take a somewhat light hearted approach to answering the questions of meaning and purpose. Advaita is often translated as 'Nonduality' but I take the slightly controversial approach of translating instead to mean 'Nonseparation' - Through a deep enquiry into the background belief we tend to have about being somehow 'apart' from the universe and rediscovering the sense of unity, oneness all existential questions and confusion ceases and peace is attained.
All of the principles discussed in this Podcast are outlined in my book 'Still Now' found on Amazon here:

These talks are designed to introduce the practical application of spirituality and meditation, not just the concept or cognitive understanding but advice on how we can pragmatically engage these principles to transform our lives for the better. Having suffered with anxiety, depression, stress, addiction and obesity myself and subsequently recovered I can attest to the power of these practices and principles to achieve a full recovery and total transformation. In this episode I explain the principles of the infinite universal consciousness model of reality and how to experience pure consciousness for yourself. I speak on how this principle and experience helped me to overcome my struggles with mental health.
In this podcast I endeavor to explain the principles of enlightenment and spiritual awakening, without the usual trappings of using spiritual language and terminology or introducing new beliefs or faiths.
Ultimately the peace felt from recognizing the truth of your being is undeniable, once experienced everything else begins to fall into place.

In this episode we are focusing on Presence, the simple practice of focusing awareness on Now and recognise there is no such thing as time. We may initially believe this is too simplistic an approach but ultimately we find the very simplicity of this practice is where the power is found. In this talk I speak about how staying 'Present' throughout the day can ensure we are far less stressed and anxious during daily life, even if that daily life is very busy.

*Just a warning straight out of the gate, this episode covers themes and areas some listeners may find unsettling*
Healing the inner child is the most powerful way to recover from pain in the present moment. The inner child is the still present entity that is a collection of every experience that was left unresolved from childhood, naturally some of these experiences were painful.
On the spiritual path we may sometimes find these concepts keep hitting paradoxes, how to be fully present when the past was so very painful? Does the concept of 'inner child work' and 'healing from trauma' work with the spiritual path?
In this talk I dive feet first into this subject, I speak about my own experiences of severe anxiety attacks as a child that were unrecognised, dismissed and invalidated and the inevitable consequences this had for me as an adult, suffering through these attacks without support left me a form of PTSD that has required extensive work to recover from, a process I have found even harder than my recovery from addiction and my weight loss journey combined.
I have often asked myself which I should focus on in my recovery, the more traditional talking therapy approach or the deepest spiritual teachings, in the end I found they are not at odds with each other at all. Although occasionally contradictory, they absolutely can be practised and worked through together.
I delve into the mire of the healing process and I very much hope I can offer some solace, comfort and words of encouragement for those of you enduring this difficult process.
This marks the end of Series 1 of this Podcast I will be taking a brief hiatus to rest, reset and recover before going weapons hot again. Please remember to follow me on YouTube for more of my content as I'll still be updating there regularly.

"While this question is the most pertinent, it is also the most irrelevant."
Humankind's relentless quest for meaning has us running a futile endeavour high and low, locked in an exhausting search, upon recognising this futility many choose to give up this search and attempt to resign themselves to a 'no meaning' model of reality (often as an excuse for hedonism) only to find this is ultimately unsatisfying also.
The only way to finally find this meaning is to recognise the inherent flaw we didn't catch right at the beginning - Why is there no answer to this question? Because there is no question.

Overthinking is a very common problem that can cause immense stress and frustration, even for those on the spiritual path and well established in meditative practice. There are many practices designed to help one calm and quieten the mind, in this episode I discuss some of my favourite pointings for techniques and principles on quietening the mind. I also discuss the possibility of changing or softening deeply held beliefs regarding thought and feelings as a beginning stage of becoming free from thinking.
Further in, I discuss the possibility of eradicating thought altogether, it is claimed that this is indeed possible and I suggest a practice to make this happen. After all, if you withdraw awareness from thought, what happens to the thought?
