She hails from Trinidad and immigrated to the United States as a child. In the podcast, she discusses the challenges she faced as a black woman in America and how she was able to overcome them to excel in her studies and secure a full scholarship to one of the top medical schools in the country. Despite limited resources, Nia thrived in her environment and is an inspiration to other underrepresented students pursuing a career in medicine.
