Ep. 22 Ageism: It's Impact on Black Women in the Workplace

If you don't mind me asking... how old are you? A question, or microaggression at that, many black women receive especially in the workplace. S5 sits down with a real, deep, and entertaining conversation around ageism.

Our first resource is Forbes. Check out this article written by Sheila Callaham that discusses how or a Black or Brown woman, ageism creates a triple threat for potential bias and discrimination. She breaks down how these threats impact us specifically in a quick two minute read. DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION section of Forbes.

Our second resource for this week is an article published in the business section from the Washington Post. The article is called: For Black workers, age discrimination strikes twice. It discusses a new research study conducted by Texas A&M that suggests that for black workers, age discrimination is highest for the youngest, falls in middle age, and rises once more as workers near retirement.
