Fixed star Antares represents one of the four Archangels. He is associated with Oriel, the watcher of the West. Antares is also known as Uriel who's name translates in Jewish and Christian mythology as the "fire of God." Oriel/Uriel is linked to acts of divine judgement.
Antares is located at 2° Ophiuchus ⛎. Antares or anti-Ares means the rival or equivalent of Mars able to stand up to and overcome or thwart Aries war mongering warrior spirit. In mythology, Antares, like Mars, shimmers a blazing red colour in the sky, however it also has emerald hues, unlike Mars. Antares' dual nature - perfectly expressed when domiciled in the constellation of Ophiuchus – can emanate benevolent and malevolent energies.
The Persians labelled Antares a Royal Star; however, the Greeks and Romans (Greco-Roman Empire) focused on its regressive aspects due to its red color and associations with fear. The Persians are the modern-day Iranians. To them Antares was very fortunate because it signified eminence and achievements for all of humanity. The Greco-Roman Empire's reincarnation is the United States, UK, and the eurozone, known as the West. In Western mythology Antares is militant, fiery, obsessive-compulsive and maniacal.
Antares and Mars currently form a tense astrological square; therefore, when using 13-Sign Astrology, the West v Persia conflagration is reflected clearly in the cosmic alignments.
