Sports Photography Philosophy Podcast No. 29. Today’s show is a special one for me. This was my first experience in Australia as a photographer for Getty Images. I spent 3 weeks working The Commonwealth Games held in the glorious Australian state of Queensland for Gold Coast 2018. For those not familiar with this event, it’s a multi-sport event in the similar vein as the Summer Olympics except the only countries that can compete are members states of the British Commonwealth. In the next hour, you will hear a pre-event photographers brief prior to the weightlifting, working with Clive Rose and new Nikon ambassador, Quinn Rooney in an outdoor pool bathed in Queensland sunshine, transmitting to editors in the media centre, shooting beach volleyball, badminton, gymnastic, track cycling, hockey and table tennis to name a few. I will also run through the positives and negatives of shooting a new sport each day and of course it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t get distracted and go on the occasional rant. Just a note, I mention the Winter Olympics podcast a few times in this show which I am still working on.
