We get to learn from Dr. Rolando Toyos, author of “The Life and Times of a Sports Ophthalmologist” and founder of the Sports Ophthalmology Society of the Americas.

Dr. Rolando Toyos is a cataract and refractive surgeon in Memphis, Tennessee, and founder of the nationally acclaimed Toyos Clinic. Before medical school, Dr. Toyos was a high school teacher and basketball coach. He received his medical degree at the University of Illinois and completed ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University and Chicago Children’s Hospital. Dr. Toyos is the inventor of the intense pulse light (IPL) procedure for Dry Eye Disease. Dr. Toyos has worked with athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and World Boxing Association, including close connections with the Memphis Grizzlies, Seattle Mariners, and Memphis Redbirds. Dr. Toyos has authored numerous books, including “The Life and Times of the Sports Ophthalmologist.”
