Raised by a hunter, uncertain about allies, and doesn't like the British Men of Letters ... who could that be? This time we're talking about the Irish legend, Eileen Leahy. Mix up an "Irish Maid" and let us know your theories after listening to this episode.
IRISH MAID RECIPE
Ingredients: cucumber slices (1/4 inch), 2 ounces Irish Whiskey (we used Jameson), 1/2 ounce of St Germain elderflower liqueur, 3/4 ounce lemon juice, 3/4 ounce simple syrup.
TO MAKE: Muddle two cucumber slices in a shaker then add everything else and shake. Add ice to your glass then double strain into said glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice.
MOCKTAIL:
Substitute the St Germain for elderflower syrup. You may want to omit the simple syrup to prevent over-sweetened the drink. Substitute the Irish Whiskey with nonalcoholic whiskey or club soda.
Alternatively, add elderflower syrup to chilled lemonade and garnish with cucumber.
