On this episode around the 🔥, we speak with Andy Johns, who shares his personal journey from a highly successful career in Silicon Valley, to a burnout that led to spiritual crisis and the emergence of a new identity that shapes his outlook today.
Andy had a 17-year career, working as an executive, advisor, and investor with ten multi-billion-dollar startups. But his workaholism, along with repressed childhood traumas, contributed to psychological and spiritual struggles that culminated in various addictions and eventual burnout.
A series of spiritual awakenings led to a journey of healing from childhood trauma and the death of his mom from mental illness when he was ten years old, leading to a much deeper understanding of himself and a new mission to help others transform themselves and find a higher purpose.
Today Andy spends his time writing about mental health, spirituality, and personal transformation, as well as coaching people through spiritual awakenings. He also serves on the board of the Heroic Hearts Project, supporting veterans with PTSD through psychedelic-assisted therapy, and he has recently begun working with Integrative Mental Health University (IMHU), founded by Dr. Emma Bragdon, to help bring spirituality into Western mental health care.
