As he enthusiastically announces at the opening of each show with theme music blaring… “My name is Dr. Thomas Lamar, ChiropracTOR and Dad of Seven!” On January 1st, 2010, this chiropracTOR — along with his then 9 year-old audio engineer son, Logan — launched Spinal Column Radio, an Internet radio program about “all-things-chiropractic.” Modeled after his longstanding community newspaper column, Lamar’s target audience initially was the lay public. Eight months later though, through a string of amazing events, a “shift” happened and Spinal Column Radio found itself in its present format: serving the chiropracTIC profession by delivering content that motivates, supports, and encourages chiropractors world-wide (along with their assistants, students, advocates, and students-to-be), to uphold and revere the principles in which chiropractic has thrived since 1895. “Ironically, while my audience has seemingly shifted from the lay public, I’m finding that by delivering content that spurns the average chiropractor in the trenches to be the best chiropractor he or she can be, I have not left my post of educating the lay public about chiropractic… about, as I say, ‘to think about their health in a whole new way’ — instead,” Lamar shares, ”I have found a way to leverage my message through hundreds and hundreds of chiropractors all over the planet, which in turn influence their communities. In this sense, the message is being disseminated in a much grander way.” The show has literally taken the father-son team — with their studio in tow — coast to coast for on location interviews with some of the greatest names and minds in the profession at events such as New Beginnings Chiropractic Weekends, The California Jam, and ChiroFest. With nearly 300 interviews “in the can,” Lamar is quickly living up to the description someone once gave him as being “The Larry King of Chiropractic.” “Who knew…” - as he spouts off in his introduction - “…spinal education could be THIS much fun!”

Episode 160 — Telling THE Story and Telling MY Story as I Talk The TIC to the Students at LACC’s First Ever Philosophy of Chiropractic Course

Episode 160 — Telling THE Story and Telling MY Story as I Talk The TIC to the Students at LACC’s First Ever Philosophy of Chiropractic Course
BJ Palmer defined chiropractic as a philosophy, science, and art of things natural. Listeners of this show know that I graduated from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1995 (now part of the Southern California University of Health Sciences). When I was attending, the LACC curriculum was very strong in the science aspect and we definitely were given the tools to develop the art... but, unfortunately, as with many chiropractic colleges today, it was sorely deficient in the philosophy. Philosophy was virtually non-existent. Extra effort was required on the part of the student to seek it out. Needless to say, it was not presented at the main watering trough. I'm happy to report, however, that after 102 years the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic has launched its first Philosophy of Chiropractic course. Lead instructor, Dr. Mark Losack, my former classmate, tapped me (and a number of other chiropracTORs) on the shoulder to be a guest presenter for this inaugural class offering. To which I eagerly accepted. Tune in to hear me turn my presentation into a LIVE2HardDRIVE Radio Program as I Talk the TIC to the students of LACC. On the program we cover everything from spizzerinctum to being grounded in your WHY, and why n0w — more than ever — it is vital that we as chiropractors champion around what separates and distinguishes us as different and unique in the market place. In addition, I tell MY story of how I evolved "to the other side." Plus, we even have a chance revisit our old "Extraordinary Chiropractors Doing Extraordinary Things" Series, as touch upon the underground world of chiropractic in the military when we interview our lead instructor, Dr. Mark Losack. We talk about how he as a Lieutenant Colonel of the United State Marine Corps delivered chiropractic care to his fellow marines during the wartime efforts of Operation Iraqi Freedom. And specifically we address the famous picture that has been described as "the shot seen around the world" of Dr. Losack adjusting one of his men side posture on the courtyard wall of the former dictator. Then in the Post Show, we dodge the incoming missiles, during the Q & A session.
