Ride slower to ride faster | Marinus Petersen

Marinus was the 2021 Welsh National Road Race Champion, and is now racing in France.
Just like myself, Marinus holds a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science and has a cycling coaching business.
What if I were to say that you are very likely riding too fast in your training rides, and that in order to improve your performance you likely need to ride slower?

In this conversation, we will be discussing the benefits of long slow endurance riding, and why you are likely doing the majority of your riding at too high of an intensity.

Marinus holds very strong views on the importance of sub-LT1 aerobic endurance riding within a cycling training plan.
He has also been known to have a unique take on the benefits of “oversized endurance rides” and fits these into his own and his athletes training plans regularly.
In this podcast, expect to learn;
What are the benefits of long steady endurance rides?
Why these should be a staple of any training plan.
How do you find your appropriate volume? How much is too much?

What kind of intensity should these be ridden at, and how do you find that intensity?

Why you should sing a song while riding?
How should you fuel these rides?
