Episode 037 - Ulises Ramirez - Mariachi Music
We are in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in our latest episode. We get to connect with Bill’s old college friend Ulises Ramirez. We talk with him about his musical upbringing, playing drums/trumpet, the pressures of growing up as the child of immigrants, and mariachi music. From his upbringing in Montana/Idaho to being thrown in to the deep end at University of Indiana in Bloomington, we discover a rich history and talent that seems almost natural for Ulises. We find the difference between Norteno Music and Mariachi Music, and try to figure out why Ulises went vegetarian. Ulises is a wonderfully gifted trumpet player and continues to have a very busy performance and teaching schedule. Make sure you reach out and take advantage of any lessons with him.
