The past week has been a difficult week for many people who are aware of the recent developments regarding race relations across the globe. Therefore, this week, Sound On confronts the issue of Racism and Disobedience with Nick and Dylan. We discuss our thoughts on racism in general alongside the debate between the use of civil and uncivil disobedience in tackling racism. We address difficult questions such as does violence betray the cause of anti-racist movements and what more can we do to end racism. We take an approach that addresses racism on all fronts, including in Malaysia and Indonesia, while also touching on whether vernacular schools contribute to the problem of racist stereotypes in Malaysia.
