In the midst of panic and confusion, we tend to feel most vulnerable, our jugular vein exposed to a predator in the dark. We have to make a choice -- how to react to a perilous moment or situation. It is always darkest before the dawn. In time of quiet reflection, I chose to flip the switch. The fight or flight mechanism kicks into high gear, but what if there's nowhere to run? Confront the beast head on. Even in our weakest moments, we're stronger than we think. If we flip the switch and flood the space with light, we can see the monster, our true adversary, and all too often, it is fear. We defeat it by acknowledging its presence as the bully in the classroom, calling it out for bad behavior then expelling it from Soul School.
