Are you exhausted but have to wake up and be the default parent again tomorrow?
Do you resent your husband for working on the road?
Does something always break when he’s away?
Do you feel like you need a break from your kids, but with the latest virus going around, you’re scrambling to stay healthy since there’s no one to step in if you get sick?
In this podcast, you will learn to implement routines and rhythms that work for your family to get your home running on auto-pilot, simple ways to keep the spark alive in your marriage, and parent effectively without always being “the bad guy”. My mission is to help you navigate life with a traveling spouse by focusing on building positive relationships, setting boundaries, and practicing simple mindset shifts. And most importantly, to help you build a supportive community - let’s leave the loneliness behind and connect with others in the same situation!
Hey, I’m Kayla Lyons! I’m a wife to a traveling husband and a mom of two girls. We’ve navigated this lifestyle for over 15 years—seven of those as parents—without the support of the proverbial “village.” and I’ve learned a thing of two along the way.
I know what it’s like to care for your home and family alone while your partner works out of town, feeling exhausted and wondering if this is all life offers. I resented my husband enjoying fancy meals out while I stayed home with the kids, stuck in a routine of chicken nuggets and sleepless nights. Our home felt overwhelming, my marriage was struggling, and I wasn’t a present mom. I went to bed every night feeling lonely and completely unfulfilled. My identity was wrapped up in my kids, and I was feeling lost as a woman and wanted more for my life.
Then I read a book that changed everything. I started making small changes to get my home running (mostly) on auto-pilot, I dug deep and did the real work to focus on building up my marriage instead of tearing it down, and I gradually rediscovered myself. Now, I want to share it all with you.
If you’re ready to find a space where you can connect with someone who truly “gets it” as we dive into the REAL work of being a married, sometimes (or always) solo parent, then this is the podcast for you! So refill your iced coffee, pop those earbuds in, and let’s build our village! You’re resilient and it’s time to go from surviving to thriving!
I’ll see you inside.
