Sometimes Curious, Often Confused

People are fascinating — how we think, how we talk, the choices we make, and I’m here for it. I'm Richard Okongwu, and every week I talk about trust, money, and our relationships with one another. You know, the little and significant events that shape our lives. This podcast is part thought experiment, part personal journal — sometimes messy, other times obvious, but always honest. I'm no expert; just a guy trying to understand the world one idea at a time, and I ask questions along the way. I hope to help you see the things you already knew — differently. Maturing early, but at what cost? | Ep. 19

Spiral 19: Maturing early, but at what cost?

You know, we love when children start acting mature early. We clap for them. We say, "Wow, you’re so responsible. You’re so reasonable. You’re so mature." And who doesn’t like that? Who doesn’t love a child that acts older than their age?Because it makes your job easier. And who doesn't want easy? It’s almost like half of your job is already done. Now, you don't have to teach them every step of the way.

But deep down, a part of that child is being rushed. A part of them that they don't get back.
