In today’s episode, we go on a Solo Movie Date to Forks, Washington — where we fall in love with a vampire and hold on tight, spider monkey — for Twilight.
This week’s episode is a little different: instead of a solo review, we’re having a cozy collective movie night, watching Twilight together as a commentary-style episode. We unpack the film’s iconic moments — from Bella’s cactus and Edward’s glittering skin to hot dads, confusing high school sports teams, and why everyone in Forks is obsessed with this 17-year-old girl.
Twilight’s mix of teenage melodrama, brooding romance, and supernatural angst made it a cultural phenomenon and launched one of the most iconic movie franchises of the 2000s.
So get cozy, light some candles, and get ready for a nostalgic deep dive into the movie that defined a generation.

TWILIGHT
Twilight (2008), directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the bestselling novel by Stephenie Meyer, follows Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), a shy 17-year-old who moves from sunny Arizona to the rainy small town of Forks, Washington. Her world changes when she meets the mysterious Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) — a pale, impossibly perfect classmate who turns out to be a 108-year-old vampire.
As Bella becomes entangled in Edward’s secret world, she’s introduced to the rest of the Cullen family — the stoic doctor Carlisle (Peter Facinelli), the protective Esme (Elizabeth Reaser), and their vampire “siblings” Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett. Meanwhile, her old childhood friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) hints at an ancient tribal legend that could unravel everything she thinks she knows about the Cullens.
The film blends moody Pacific Northwest visuals, a wildly earnest love story, and a now-iconic indie soundtrack featuring Muse, Paramore, and Iron & Wine. Shot in under 50 days on a $37 million budget, Twilight went on to gross over $400 million worldwide — redefining YA cinema and immortalizing sparkly vampires forever.
