Episode 4 (Session 32): Echoes of the AnimaticsThe sands are shifting, and secrets stir beneath them. Our heroes plunge deeper into danger in this cinematic session of Solid 10 D&D, where ancient relics awaken and dreams may prove prophetic.
The party continues their descent through the mysterious
Burj Sarra, a forgotten tower infused with magic and menace. After vanquishing a skeletal horde and solving a magic-suppressing puzzle, the group faces the enigmatic
Verge Guardian-a massive rig-like being born of arcane design. Karvix is banished mid-fight, Nemiea’s staff nearly shatters, and Reed transforms into a Kitakazi ape. With Dante's precise aim and sheer willpower, the Guardian is finally brought down, leaving behind a strange dagger called
The Animatics, etched with cryptic words that hint at deeper truths yet to come.
Their victory is short-lived. A flood of arcane water crashes through the chamber, sweeping the party into an
underground river. They endure hours of darkness, currents, and uncertainty-until they surface in a desert
oasis ringed by palm trees and glowing foliage. Reed turns into a "crocadilly" to help navigate the waters, while Dante uses his bow to shoot bananas from a nearby tree-though one banana meets a watery end.
They summon a cozy shelter with
Cottage Sanctuary and release Nim’s horse, Saffron, into the newly conjured stable. While fishing and regrouping, Dante and Nim begin investigating a
mysterious white tome discovered earlier. When Dante’s locket is brought close, both items vibrate with arcane resonance, unlocking the book in a burst of golden light.
Using a Vox device, they reach out to
Lord Xanderwolf and
Gleeman. The news is dire: another awakened tome may be responsible for destruction sweeping a nearby region. Worse still, the
priest from White Maw-known for kidnapping children-is believed to possess a tome and is heading toward snow-capped mountains.
The session ends in a haze of dreams. Reed sees a great tree and a ruined city called Wincum. Nim envisions a dark citadel. Dante races through a forest, his mind echoing a strange phrase about
familial bonds and ancient knowledge.
The path forward is clear: they must reach
Wincum-the city with the lighthouse. But what awaits them there?
