Welcome to Solid 10 D&D - Episode 3 (Session 31): The Tower Hungers
After barely surviving their encounter in the Sands of Surya, the party now finds themselves atop a mysterious, crumbling tower deep in the wastes. What begins as a quiet exploration quickly descends into chaos as shambling skeletons stir at the base of a cold, unlit brazier. The adventurers-Nemiea, Reed, Dante, and Karvix-move cautiously through the gloom, casting healing spells and protective enchantments while their ranger steadies his bow on the fractured balcony outside.
When Nemiea lights the brazier with a single firebolt, the dormant undead spring to life. Magic missiles streak through the air, arrows pierce bone, and the summoned tiger Shere Khan dives into the fray, called forth by Reed's enchanted bag of tricks. Holy light blazes from Karvix's warhammer, and the room becomes a battlefield of flame and radiant force.
Once the skeletal threat is vanquished, the party descends into the depths of the tower. There, the very nature of the arcane shifts. A numbing sensation creeps into their limbs. Magic is suppressed. Reed's Nimbus evaporates, her floating magic cloud gone in an instant-dropping her squarely onto Dante. Behind them, the stairs collapse. They are trapped.
Blue gems pulse faintly in the walls. Old armor and crumbled bones litter the chamber, relics of past adventurers who never escaped. From one such pile, a glowing-eyed skeleton rises, animated by ancient forces. The fight is swift-but not without cost. Nemiea’s staff cracks against the creature's skull, and the weight of the tower's oppressive presence becomes unmistakable.
Whatever animates this place is old… and very much awake.
