Two WOC/POC from America and South Africa, tell ALL about life in South Korea. We don't just spill the tea, we spill the soju!
By now you've probably heard or seen this video that's making it's rounds on YouTube. A week ago, a YouTuber who goes by 올리버쌤or also known as “Oliver Teacher”, posted a video highlighting all the "bad" things about a small town in Fort Worth, Texas. A neighborhood that is predominantly black/brown people and what Koreans should look out for in these “dangerous neighborhoods”.
@thesojublack provides our views on why this video is dangerous and our feelings on what was depicted within this video.
We were also joined by Sam Han, a Korean-American who was raised in Chicago, USA. He provides his own personal experiences as a Korean living in America, in both a predominantly white neighborhood and a predominant black/brown neighborhood.
This video has sparked quite a reaction from expats and Koreans and we felt it was important to use our platform to share our personal views.
We would love to hear from you all your thoughts and if you agreed or disagreed in the comments below. If you haven’t seen the video please follow the link below (English Subtitles).
