Mark 7a
The Dangers of Traditions.
Mark 7:1-23 NKJV
A. Tradition will lead to the replacement of the Word as they seek holiness through human means. (1-4)
What are the dangers of putting Traditions over the word of God?
We develop a wrong view of sin as well as holiness by putting works above relationship.
B. Because the tradition was not followed by the disciples, Jesus was accused. (5)
C. The traditions of men are a contradiction to the Word of God. (6-13)
Why are we called to a life of humility and not ritualistic showmanship?
Because we can become separated from the reality of God by our false religious rituals.
Why should we be aware of Legalism in our lives?
Because we all fall short of the glory of God and are all susceptible to sin no matter how pious we strive to be.
D. True worship of God comes from a faithful heart and not from external appearance. (14-16)
Where does faithful living originate?
In the repentant heart of an admitted sinner who has turned to Jesus.
E. Faith is determined by the condition of the heart, and its exports not the imports of the world.
Why should we examine our hearts?
To be sure to purge the evil that dwells within them as we strive to be more like Christ.
