Episode 11 - Dan's 1500hp engine, EVOSpec, KS Super Rowl, traction control, new Xonas, and turbo sizing!
In this episode of 'So You Think Your Car is Fast', we discuss our latest updates and plans for the upcoming racing season. We reveal some surprising information about Taylor's car - even Todd didn't know! Dan talks about his GT3 intake cams that are currently on the bench and introduces TNS Engineering as a new partner.
We also discuss some upcoming races, including the Super Rowl in Kansas and the Texas Invitational Telemetry System (T.I.T.S.). We plan to have Steve, Wayne, and Jared join us at the remaining events for adult supervision, and we will be dedicating Jared of BBI fame to "tooning" the Porsches.
We also delve into the technical aspects of car modification and racing, discussing topics such as motorsport-quality traction control and exploring the differences between wheel-speed sensors and GPS/inertial measurement systems for measuring performance to implement traction control. Dan and Todd are planning to make a trip to Phoenix to visit our engine builder, John Bray at EvoSpec, which has become a tradition for us.
Todd shares his plans to buy Xona turbos, and we compare the measurements of the Xona X3C/X4C setups to Garrett G/GT35 series turbos in terms of fitment sizing.
Lastly, we explore what turbo someone would need to make 1700-1800 horsepower to the wheels in a twin-turbo configuration and demonstrate how to quickly size a pair of turbos to a horsepower goal. Todd is calling Robert to make plans, and we plan to share more details in the next episode.
