An American SLP in Australia (Bribie Island)

In January 2025 I had a chat with Abby, an American SLP living and working on Bribie Island in Queensland, Australia.

You may know that Queensland is home to Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo. But did you also know that Queensland’s capital city, Brisbane, will host the Olympics in 2032?

Grab your passport, pack your bags and get ready to come on an audio adventure to discover what life is like as an American SLP in Australia 🇦🇺.

For listeners outside of Australia, there are some local terminologies in the episode that you might not be familiar with. NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme; a type of government funding for speech pathology services.

👍 Make sure you like, subscribe and follow on Apple Podcasts, Spotify andInstagram so you can hear episodes as soon as they land (yes, that's an airplane pun).

SLPs Overseas is an independently produced podcast. I record, edit and publish episodes while working full-time as an SLP (and travelling, of course!) If you enjoy listening to my podcast and want to buy me a coffee to show your support, I would greatly appreciate it.
