Have you ever had a Sliding Doors Moment - a decision or opportunity that could have gone either way that leads to two very different futures?

I’m Jennie Becker and I’m fascinated by ‘what if’ moments - what they look like, what we can learn from them - and how we can begin to embrace them.

Five years ago I had my very own Sliding Doors Moment when I decided to start this podcast. Since then I’ve been on an incredible journey helping guests join the dots on the small decisions or moments that made a big difference and built the path of their lives.

From Olympians to Presenters, Actors to Entrepreneurs (and even the cast of the 90s hit movie!), each episode I get to meet amazing people and ask them what could have been, if they’d chosen differently…

Becky Adlington: If she hadn't won her Olympic medals, she wouldn't have found her purpose

Becky Adlington is Great Britain’s most successful female swimmer. She became a household name following her two-gold medal winning performances at the Beijing Games in August 2008, and also two Bronze medals in London 2012. Her unique blend of charisma and charm, as well as her dedication and professionalism in the pool, has made her a global superstar, and a role model for female athletes around the world. Becky was awarded an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace and following her retirement in 2013, she started her 'Learn to Swim Programme' with the goal that every child in Britain will be able to swim 25 metres by the time they leave primary school. A trusted voice for women in sport, Becky is an experienced ambassador, spokesperson and pundit as well as a full time business owner and mum.

In this episode Becky shares her journey from competitive swimming to entrepreneurship, reflecting on the pivotal moments that shaped her life. She discusses the importance of the connection between mental and physical health, and her story highlights the power of connection, resilience, and the pursuit of purpose. Her three Sliding Doors Moments include: her sister's health crisis at the age of 17 and the impact this had on her and her family, how her Olympic success led her to find her purpose and was the catalyst to start her 'Learn to Swim Programme' and how a night in Liverpool changed her dating app location settings that led her to met her now husband!
