The game featured a dramatic comeback, with the Mets scoring three runs in the ninth inning to tie the game, and later adding three more in the top of the 16th. Astros' Billy Hatcher responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the 16th, but Mets' reliever Jesse Orosco struck out Kevin Bass with the tying and winning runs on base to secure the victory.
