Kira Stone

Kira Stone (@KiraBethStone) is a composer, lyricist, songwriter, playwright, performer, and music producer fueled by the rhythms and rhymes of pop & hip-hop music, and led by the storytelling of musical theater. Current projects include SALEM (dir. by Sarna Lapine, dramaturgy by Jessica Kahkoska), Built For This (US Women’s Gymnastics Musical) (book by Sara Cooper, dir. by Melissa Crespo), Revival (a new musical about Joan of Arc), a new musical project about the cutthroat pop music industry, and a new musical project in the early stages of creation about her own un-retouched lifelong relationship with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - as well as a few *very new* projects in the ~very early~ stages of development. Kira’s musical work has been developed and presented at Playwrights Horizons, Goodspeed (Festival of New Musicals), New York Musical Festival (R.I.P.), New York Theatre Barn, University of Southern California, the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, and 54 Below. Residencies include: The BringAbout (Brooklyn), Chateau d’Orquevaux in Champagne, France. Finalist: Rhinebeck Writers Retreat (2022, for SALEM), The Civilians’ R&D 2020-2021 Group (for Built for This), Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project at Northwestern, Fault Line Theatre “Irons in the Fire” 2021 Season. Nominated: Vivace Award 2021. Grants: AiR (Artist in Residency) in France. Read More about Kira at KiraBethStone.com!
