#9_Nanny Griggs-Barbadian Emancipator

The most important slave rebellion in Barbados took place on 14th April 1816. One white person was killed, and dozens were injured. 50 enslaved people died in battle and 70 were executed in the field. 300 were taken to Bridgetown for trial, nearly half of them were executed and the rest were sent away to another island.

A woman by the name of Nanny Griggs was one of the three persons who played key roles in this rebellion of enslaved Barbadians. The other two persons were Bussa and another man called Jackey.
