276. Get Your Kids Outside This Winter: Overcome Challenges and Embrace the Unique Beauty of the Season | Ginny Yurich of 1000 Hours Outside
The cold winter months present unique challenges when it comes to spending time outdoors with our kids. If you have a goal for your children to reduce screen time and spend ample time outdoors, you have likely heard of Ginny and the 1000 Hours Outside movement. I’m so glad to have her back on the podcast to talk specifically about what it takes to embrace life outdoors during the months of cold and snow. While it is not necessarily easy, it is worth it to embrace the beauty nature offers in winter with our children.
In this episode, we cover:
Is it actually important to get outside in the winter months?
Adapting your outdoor goals to fit your family and climate
Finding a way to enjoy very low temperatures with small children in tow
When it feels too difficult to get outside, embrace THIS mindset shift
Recognizing the unique gifts of winter that other season don’t offer
Embracing outdoor life when you live in the city
Why getting babies outside in the winter actually makes them healthier
Tuning in to the micro changes in nature and weather throughout the seasons
Mindset matters more than temperature when it comes to prioritizing time outdoors
