Pauri 7 reminds us that even if you lived for ages, earned fame, and were known across the world, it means nothing without Divine grace. Worldly status and praise fade, and blaming others only drags you lower. The Divine blesses both the virtue-less and the virtuous, and no one can truly describe the greatness of that Giver. Everything comes through grace, not ego. This katha series is in collaboration with Sikhs In Leeds and Basics Of Sikhi. Importance of Gurbani | Japji Sahib Katha in English | Introduction
Sri Japji Sahib is the first prayer in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, written by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This prayer gives us Braham Gyan, spiritual wisdom to help us experience and merge into Vaheguru Ji. It is recited daily as part of the morning Nitnem (daily prayers) and can also be recited at any time during the day. In this new English Katha series, we will be going through the translation and meanings of Sri Japji Sahib and the history behind it's composition. In this series, we will reflect upon the translations of each stanza (pauri) and how this wisdom has changed the lives of many people, and how this can be applied to our lives. This first video of Sri Japji Sahib English Katha, will explore the origins of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the purpose of Guru Ji's coming to Earth and the importance of Gurbani. This will set the foundation for us to understand the significance and importance of Gurbani which will allow us to fully embrace the wisdom within Sri Japji Sahib as we embark on this journey together. This katha series is in collaboration with Sikhs In Leeds and Basics Of Sikhi. ** Apologies for any mistakes made during the katha ** 00:00:00 Mool Mantar Jap and Simran 00:03:14 Manglacharan 00:04:43 Introduction 00:06:16 Listen to Katha and wash your pollution away 00:08:10 What's coming up during the year 00:08:55 The languages of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji 00:10:50 The foundations 00:11:30 Why did Guru Nanak Dev Ji come to earth? 00:12:00 Kalyug and the four ages 00:14:21 The Varaan of Bhai Gurdas Ji 00:22:06 The emergence of the true Guru Nanak Dev Ji 00:23:23 The six types of Avtars 00:27:24 Understanding who Guru Nanak Dev Ji is 00:32:38 The three authenticities 00:36:35 Bani is Guru 00:38:48 Why is Gurbani powerful?
