In 20 years of my career, I went from one good job to another; from one great company to an even better one, and I truly believed I was being judged on my capabilities and not my gender. So, when asked to comment on this topic, I always declined because statements like “my gender has not gotten in my way” weren’t really fit for headlines. Yes, I went to all the women's networks (I even lead one for Dell (DWEN)). But at some point all the female networks started to look a lot like female ghettos. And all the focus on needing to improve women's self esteem and capabilities just seemed to feed women's insecurities and the myth that women are less capable. I just didn’t want to be a contributing factor to that. It wasn’t until I got older…actually, it wasn't until I became a mother (read a year ago), that I became conscious of how unfair it all is. Reflecting back on my experiences, a cascade of examples highlighting this inequality lined up (which I will share in another podcast). Today, I am thrilled to share my conversation with Carine de Meyere, Women's rights advocate. Please watch!
