Irene Simon Ivambi is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of a hair company called “Mrembo Naturals.” Around 2019, Irene and a few friends developed a hair movement called “Natural Hair Movement” that focused on educating Tanzanian women on using natural hair products.

This episode highlights the journey of Irene in establishing a business that helps women embrace their natural beauty. As a side effect of being introduced to the intensive use of hair relaxers when she was only 1 year old, she got brain scars. For this reason she established a hair business that is now making and selling hair products locally and internationally.

She has extensive knowledge and experience of 15 years of counselling and human rights activism, serving different sectors, including public, private, and CSOs. She has received several recognition for her work such as the SADC leadership award in 2014, recognized as a driver of change during the SADC summit in Johannesburg and for outstanding contributions to women's empowerment in 2015.
