When a beautiful young woman falls under the spell of the notorious playboy Baron Gruner, Holmes is asked to break up their engagement. But as Holmes delves deeper into the Baron’s background, he finds that Gruner is no ordinary scoundrel: he’s a man who treats violence and murder as a gentleman’s game, and this time the stakes are Holmes’s life.
