Sophie Kietzmann shares their Occupation as a Diversity Photographer and their work truly captures the range of people often underrepresented in digital media. Sophie was born in Berlin and raised in Brussels. They moved to the New York City when they were 22-years-old and and that's when they started to find the community they didn't know they needed. Sophie identifies as a gender fluid queer photographer and they discussed their Obstacle of Living Straight with host Jennifer Moxley. Sophie says they didn't realize their identity was so tied to conservative beliefs modeled to them growing up until they moved to America. Sophie's path in photography has taken them through play, trauma, uprooting, coming out, identification and spirituality and has taught them precious lessons about topics like visual representation of social minorities, gender expression and the fragility of social constructs. They strive for alignment of their head, eye and heart through the tool of their craft. Sophie is also a model and first began practicing photography when they were 7-years-old following in the footsteps of their father and grandfather.
