The Pharisees. Oh how we love to talk about and tear down and point to the foolish Pharisees. Oh, how we love to shake our heads and ask ourselves “how could they not see it? How could they not see that Jesus was everything they had been praying for, and fasting for, and sacrificing for? How could they be so foolish? How could they cling to their religion so hard, making an idol out of their religion and their piety, so much so that they could not grab hold of the everlasting life and freedom Jesus was offering to them?”
And yet…we do the same.
