The Butcher on Rainy Night was a case of human mutilation that occurred in Hong Kong in 1982. The prisoner is Lin Guoyun, formerly known as Lin Guoyu. The case started trial on March 3, 1983, after 20 days of trial. On April 8, Lin Guoyun was convicted of four murders and sentenced to hanging. As of August 1984, the Hong Kong Governor in Council pardoned Lin Guoyun from death and commuted to life imprisonment.
