Episode 13: (part 02) mail artist, artistamp maker, & archivist Chuck Welch / Crackerjack Kid (New Hampshire, USA)
Chuck Welch a.k.a. Crackerjack Kid continues the conversation in Part 02 of his Senders Receive interview! Crackerjack has spent the last twelve years archiving and organizing his mail art collection, for inclusion at the Smithsonian Museum's Archives of American Art. He has curated mail art exhibitions for various institutions, most recently the show "Postcards to Brattleboro: 40 Years of Mail Art" at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center in Vermont. For Part 02 of his interview, we discuss what it’s like to open an exhibition on the brink of a pandemic, meeting other mail artists in person, and the effect of the early internet on mail art.  This is Part 02 of a two part interview. ______________________________________________________________________________ SHOW NOTES: --> What Is Mail Art? : an interview with Chuck Welch and mail artist Shmuel (Stewart Copans) : https://youtu.be/vubEgu5bxVg --> Finding Aid to the Jean Brown Papers at the Getty Research Institute: --> Dick Higgins (Something Else Press) writes about intermedia --> upcoming exhibition: Ray Johnson: c/o at The Chicago Art Institute Follow Crackerjack on Instagram at: @crackerjackkid3 Interested in corresponding with Crackerjack?
