Hey friend! Welcome to Seeking Happy, Finding Joy. Are you holding on to things even though they leave you feeling guilty, disappointed, or unfulfilled?
Are you struggling to navigate a big life transition or feel lost because life doesn’t look the way you expected?
Have you discovered that when you find happiness it’s fleeting and when the moment has passed, you are left feeling the same as before?
Let’s face it – life is hard, sometimes.
So I’m glad you’re here! This podcast will help you discover what’s keeping you stuck; let go of your fears, and discover who you are; so YOU can become the bold, resilient woman God created you to be; confident in your purpose, unafraid to speak your mind, chase your dreams, and have the courage to create a life you love – filled with great joy – in spite of the hard stuff.
I’m your host, Sherry Shipley; a Jesus-loving, motorcycle riding mom and life coach. I’ve survived incredibly bumpy roads and navigated my way through difficult roadblocks to arrive at my destination – strong, content, and living a life I truly love.
But it wasn’t always this way. After losing my husband in an accident and then my newly purchased home to a natural disaster – I understand hard! Finding the path back to my light was a long and at times, a difficult journey.
I leaned hard into my faith and did all the things: counseling, grief share, therapy … you name it. I tried desperately to be happy again, but what I discovered is that happiness is fleeting – it is tied to a moment. And when that moment passes, so does the feeling. And the cycle begins again. I finally realized that I was fiercely holding on to a life that no longer existed; and in order to receive the goodness and abundance God has in store for me in my next season, I had to release some things. And in my journey, I discovered joy.
Do you believe God is calling you to a life of “more” but have no idea what that looks like or where to begin? If you are ready to become the bold, confident, resilient woman God created you to be; to have the courage to color outside the lines; be unafraid to speak your mind, and chase your dreams – this podcast is for you!
Because while we often cannot control the circumstance, we DO get to choose what to do with it. Joy, sweet sister, is quite different from Happy.
Grab a helmet; hop on the back of my Harley and hold on tight. You’re gonna love the freedom and joy of feeling wind on your face!
I’m SO glad you’re here!

06 | Guilt Stealing your Joy? 7 Ways to Beat That Thief
Hi friend,
We’ve all made mistakes at some point, right? Made a poor decision or bad choice?
You’ve looked back and wish you’d had chosen differently? “If I had been a better parent; hadn’t taken that job; married that person; listened to my mother; said that horrible thing … “
We have all done or said things we regret. But all too often that regret morphs into Guilt.
What happens when you can’t move past the guilt?
When it just keeps coming back to the forefront of your mind in a way that’s keeping you stuck?
Friend – that unhealthy place is NOT what Jesus wants for you!
God doesn’t want regret or guilt to rob us of our joy. Joy in Him, Joy of our family, the Joy of living!
Because guilt is NOT an emotion from Him.
Your past is nothing more than a place you’ve been
It does not define who you are or what God wants to do in your future!
Today we’re going talk about where guilt comes from; why you need to give it to God and, 7 ways you can do just that.
Genesis 3:10 – first guilt
Psalm 51:3-4 – David’s guilt
Matthew 26:75 – Peter’s guilt
John 10:10 – the enemy’s plan
Ephesians 2:13 – how God sees you
Romans 8:1 – our redemption
Ephesians 1:7 – our redemption
Psalm 139:23-24 – ask Him
1 John 1:9 - confess
Isaiah 1:18 – repent
Phil 3:13-14 – press forward
Romans 8:28 – give thanks
Ephesians 2:10 – good works
Romans 10:17 – His Word
Jeremiah 29:11 – your future
You Are:
John 15:16 - Chosen
Psalm 103:12 - Forgiven
Eph 2:10 - Special
Daniel 12:3 - Lovely
Eccel 3:11 - Beautiful
Gen 1:31 - Created
Psalm 139:13 - Unique
Psalm 18:35 - Strong
1 Cor 6:20 – Precious
