In this episode of Secrets of a Bridal Seamstress, we’re flipping the script to “secrets of a bridal shop owner.” I sit down with Courtney Foreman, owner of Weddings With Joy in Olympia, WA, who just hit 10 years in business and is leveling up by buying a building.
Courtney shares how she went from banking to bridal, what she wishes she’d known before her first market buy, why appointments over walk-ins changed everything, and how COVID became the unexpected catalyst that led to profitability, coaching, team growth, and a healthier owner role. We also get into hiring, training, culture, consistency, and delegation—plus the real talk on financing and finding the right property for expansion.
In this episode:
The messy truth of an accidental acquisition: buying a bridal shop with no industry experience
Market buying 101: knowing your customer, sizes, colors, and how not to overbuy
Why appointment-only improves client experience and owner sanity
How coaching and community shortened the learning curve
Building a team and culture (and why experience isn’t always an advantage)
Systems, automation, handbooks, and consistent client messaging
The building buy: appraisals, banks, deal breakers, and finding a space that supports growth (hello, separate menswear entrance!)
Mindset for the long game: staying even-keeled through highs and lows

Do you ever feel like you’re posting on Instagram and nobody’s listening? You’re not alone. Most of us post a few times here and there on scattered topics, and then wonder why nothing sells.
In this week’s Six Figure Friday tip, I’m sharing the results of a simple experiment I ran on my Sweet Francis account. I picked ONE topic, my spring cleaning sale, and posted about it all month long. No reinventing the wheel, no stressing over what to say. Just one message, in different formats, over and over again.
This episode breaks down exactly what happened, and spoiler alert - it was profitable and successful! I want you to try it too, and this episode outlines how.

It’s easy to get caught in the nonstop hustle of busy season—but today’s Six-Figure Friday tip is all about reclaiming your time and energy by using one simple tool: a schedule.

The ROI of in-person networking (and how to host your own low-pressure event)
What marketing tasks you can (and should) outsource

Let’s talk about social media—specifically, how to use it like a business owner, not let it use you. In this Six-Figure Friday mini episode, we're diving into the heart of how social media affects your mindset, productivity, and overall business health. Inspired by the book The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, this chat is part mindset reset and part tactical check-in.
Bridal seamstress or not, if you’ve ever felt distracted, discouraged, or drained by the scroll, this episode offers three grounded tips to reframe your relationship with social media—so it becomes a tool again, not a habit.
In this episode:
Why you should always ask: “Am I a creator or a consumer?”
How separating personal vs. business accounts creates emotional clarity
The importance of protecting your heart (and inbox) as a public-facing business owner
This is your reminder that you can show up with confidence, set boundaries, and use social media on your terms. You started your business for freedom—don’t let an app steal it.

Welcome back to another Six Figure Friday episode of Secrets of a Bridal Seamstress! This week, we’re diving into a topic that fuels everything from your logo to your Instagram captions: your brand essence.
So… what exactly is brand essence, and how does it differ from your mission statement? Your brand essence is the feeling your clients get when they interact with your business. It’s the vibe, the energy, the “youness” that makes your studio stand out. In this episode, I’ll walk you through simple, reflective questions to help you define what your brand essence truly is—and how to let it guide your marketing, your messaging, and your studio’s entire experience.
We’ll talk journaling prompts, real-life examples, and how your brand essence is the key to trust, client retention, and clarity in your business. Whether you're rebranding or just getting started, this is a game-changing piece of the business puzzle you don’t want to skip.
