Rubio's Israel Visit Highlighted Successful Intel Coordination, Potential Gaza Stabilization Force
Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrapped up a significant visit to Israel on October 25th, departing from Ben Gurion Airport after meetings focused on the fragile Gaza ceasefire. During his trip, Rubio met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and toured a coordination center monitoring the ceasefire agreement that took effect earlier this month.

One of the most notable revelations from his visit came during his flight to Qatar, where Rubio disclosed that intelligence sharing between the United States, Israel, and other mediators successfully prevented a potential Hamas attack on Palestinian civilians. The State Department had issued warnings about credible reports of an impending attack that could have violated the ceasefire. Rubio explained that by putting out warnings through the State Department and mediators, the threatened attack never materialized, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence efforts.

Rubio also addressed the formation of an international stabilization force for Gaza, revealing that multiple countries including Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan have expressed interest in participating. However, many of these nations require a United Nations resolution to authorize their involvement. The secretary indicated that the United States is considering calling for such a resolution to enable broader international participation in stabilizing the region.

Looking ahead, Rubio announced that General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is expected to visit Israel next week, continuing the parade of high level American officials working to shore up the ceasefire. This follows recent visits by Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and presidential adviser Jared Kushner.

On another front, Rubio addressed concerns about Americas strengthening relationship with Pakistan, emphasizing that improved ties with Islamabad would not come at the expense of the deep and historic partnership with India. Rubio characterized the Indians as mature in their diplomatic approach, noting that pursuing relationships with multiple partners simultaneously is part of pragmatic foreign policy. He stressed that the United States has a long history of counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan and sees opportunities to expand that partnership.
