Seasiders Podcast
Blackpool 1 - Barnsley 0 : REACTION

Its Wednesday 24th September and in today's show we rejoice over some injury time limbs as Jordan Brown sent Bloomfield Road into last minutes ecstacy against Barnsley on Saturday.   We also look ahead to another war of the roses, this time in West Yorkshire as ‘Pool travel to table topping Bradford City this coming Saturday.

Blackpool 1 - Barnsley 0

First half

  1. Early chances for Barnsley , runner not picked up on the right by Honeyman, shot wide at near post
  2. Same from left, Coulson just doing enough to put striker off
  3. Banks shot, well saved, our only chance of half
  4. Another good chance for Barnsley's drilled wide

Second half

  1. Ennis chance blocked followed two none pens, firstly Fletcher shirt pulled, then Ennis floored by man on ground who comes back to life
  2. Bit of Barnsley pressure nothing serious, half shout for pen
  3. Morgan half volley into keepe
  4. Last minute, CH does really well, falls and gets up, plays into Casey who holds up and lays off to Brown and superb side foot finish

Seasiders Podcast
Northampton 1 - Blackpool 0 : REACTION

Its Monday 16th September 2025 and in today's show we discuss yet another defensive horror show as we come away pointless from Saturday's trip to Sixfields, a result which sees us fall to second bottom of the table, already eleven points off the play-offs and thirteen off automatic promotion. It can’t get any worse, can it?

Northampton 1 - Blackpool 0

Talking points

  • No clean sheet in 14 matches - Why cant Steve Bruce sort out the defence when he was a defender himself - has he lost the dressing room? Is he spending enough time at the training ground? (lowest XG and high XGa suggest it’s not simply ‘the defence’ but the entire system)
  • Why is Horsfall not starting and Ihekwei is?
  • Why haven't we signed a left footed centre half?
  • Why isnt Zac Ashworth, a specialist LB playing at LB
  • Why is Albie Morgan playing on the LW? (also Honeyman in previous games)
  • Why do all other team appear fitter than us? (lowest tackles made in entire league suggests lack of ‘fight’)
  • Bruce in or out?  Show poll

Seasiders Podcast
Blackpool 3 - Huddersfield 2 : REACTION

It’s Monday 18th August 2025 and in today show we just about catch our breath to recall Saturdays humdinger of a roses clash at a cauldroness Bloomfield Road as ten man Blackpool overcame Huddersfield to record our first win and points of the campaign which gets our season finally up and running with a bang.

Starting XI

First Half

  • Early goal, BDF at fault?  Was it deflected?
  • Ennis equaliser, scuffed finish? Shocking defending and nice little wave from Ennis to Hudds fans
  • Superb one touch interplay between four players, smart layoff from Fletcher and Evans piledriver to finish it, was he unburdened by the captaincy?
  • Ennis second, delightful finish smart prod assist from Honeyman.  Did anyone expect to be three one after 5 minutes?
  • Gooch second goal for Hudds, foul in build up? Schoolboy error from ihekweo not playing to the whistle and closing down the cross. Pitiful defending from CJ allowing the ball through to Gooch who slammed home. Brett blaming BPF on Radio which I thought was harsh
  • Ennis sending off - thoughts? Elliot Bell-End couldn’t wait to get his red out. Hudds number five aggressively shoving Ennis on his way off the pitch, no card and sent Fletch crazy!
  • Morgan on for Fletcher 41.  Blox up top on own in a 441.  Reasonably comfortable till HT and a good sub and formation switch

Second Half

  • Game managed well up to 60 mins
  • Honeyman “running” to take corner
  • We had one shot in second half were Coulson  volleyed wide
  • Ashworth for Blox 60 mins.  Seemed to be a 450!  With CJ just running channels who did a good of it IMO.  Bruces tactical thoughts at this stage?
  • Atmosphere hurting my ears and got a warning on watch
  • Fairly
  • Castledine shot at death, thought it was in.
  • Fantastic getting the ball into the corner at the death with Morgan doing briliantly

Seasiders Podcast
Exeter 4 - Blackpool 1 : REACTION (and Port Vale 0-1)

It’s Wednesday 13th August 2025 and in today's show we discuss not just a comedy of errors, but a full blown theatrical performance as Blackpool crashed to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Exeter, a performance which Steve Bruce described as the worst at his time at the club.

We also review yesterday’s equally insipid Carabao Cup first round exit as ‘Pool made it three defeats in three losing 1-0 against Port Vale to Bloomfield Road.

And we look ahead to Saturday's war of the roses as Blackpool host promotion favorites Huddersfield Town in what is sure to be a stern test for the floundering Seasiders. It can't get any worse, can it?!

Exeter 4 - Blackpool 1

Starting XI

  • No Dale Taylor

First Half

  • 5 - Quick throw, no one reacted. Ball into box from left, Cole miscontrols but has all the time in the world to get shot away.  Evans bizarely ran onto the line rather than try to close down
  • 16 - Corner to back stick headed back, no challenge at from Fletcher, Ahewei under no pressure, shanks to own goal which Peacock flaps into his own net
  • 22 - Fletcher goal, couldnt miss unmarked from Evans ball into box

Second Half

Player Ratings

MOM

Port Vale 0 -1

  • £18 a ticket
  • Dale Taylor debut
  • Another unmarked header and flap from Peacock - should he have saved it?
  • These results mark Blackpool's worst start in League One since 2016/17, with no points from the opening two league games and an early cup exit. Podcast angle: Discuss how Bruce can shore up the backline— they've leaked goals from corners, free-kicks, and late in games.

Next Match - Huddersfield (h)

Blackpool 2 - Stevenage 3 : REACTION

It’s Monday 4th August 2025 and in today's show we discuss a comedy of errors at Bloomfield Road as a very disjointed Blackpool crashed to defeat against Stevenage Borough in the League One curtain raiser.

Pre-Match

  • Stadium improvements
  • Safe standing, North and SE
  • East panelling
  • Tangerine paintwork on East pillars and south steelwork
  • Stevenage scored only 14 on the road last season
  • Emil Hansson on a season long loan from Brum
  • Great atmosphere

Starting XI

First Half

  • Kemp swirling shot saved
  • Brown shoots just wide, played in by Evan
  • GOAL - Honeyman rifles home at the near post after defensive error
  • GOAL - Jamie Reid after terrible pass, Ihekwey half asleep as well
  • Ennis fires over the bar after winning ball in the box
  • Fletcher evades defenderb brilliantly and slips Lyons in over the touchline
  • GOAL penalty, Ihekwey foul and also also handball.  P-F should have saved?

Second Half

  • Subs.  442 but odd personnel, Casey RB and Coullson bizarrely RW
  • GOAL P-F horror show gifting them the third, Kemp scoring
  • GOAL Ennis, long ball from Brown to Ennis who finishes cooly
  • Headed wide from Fletcher after good Hansen cross

  • Aggro at the end with stewards
