Year 6! There are so many mixed emotions for both you and your child at this milestone time. End of year assemblies, proms, trips and memories all being made and happening. There's anxious moments, fear of the unknown, reluctance to leave the stability and routines we have had for the last 6/7 years and so much more! 

It can feel like a lot is changing and for you, as a parent, once your child starts Secondary school, it can seem like they grow up 3 years in one week! One of the things that does tend to change is how children spend their time online once they start high school. New school systems to learn, homework to be done, researched and submitted online AND a sudden influx of lots of new people to meet and connect with. Peer pressure can mount around what apps or games they are using. They may become more influenced by what others are doing online and feel they need to keep up or are being left out. And whilst this is all totally normal, it also increases some of the risks online.

So, if you have a child about to take that step, or maybe they are moving to a new school in a different year, I hope this episode will help. I talk through some of the key things to watch out for as a parent, the important conversations you need to be having with your child over the summer and steps you can take before September to help your child navigate this next, exciting stage as safely and happily as possible.
